Heard Museum World Championship Hoop Dance

I was excited to collaborate with the Heard Museum, a private, not-for-profit museum in Phoenix, Arizona, dedicated to the advancement of American Indian art. For their 32nd annual World Championship Hoop Dance contest, the museum wanted a look that incorporated the likeness of a real-life competitor and wanted it to feel dynamic and alive. I came up with the logo that branded their event with an image of last year’s champion, and brought his movement to life using color blends that would be eye-catching, draw from the dancer’s costume, and work well in a vibrant, well-lit digital advertising campaign and in-person event. The design had to work across many different mediums, substrates, and environments and every possible format and dimension you could imagine from 20px high to 25′ outdoor billboards.
